This weekend’s racing was nothing short of spectacular, below we take a look at what transpired on the days racing:
After a long wait, teams finally got to line up on the grid for the start of the 2021 season.
Moto3 saw South Africa’s very own Darryn Binder on pole for the start of the race, a windy race created a few more challenges than expected.
As many as 9 riders lead the race creating one of the best Moto3 races we have seen.
The epic race ended in a Red Bull KTM Ajo one-two as Pedro Acosta earned a debut podium with Darryn Binder in P3.
By the time the Moto2 race began, the wind was still playing its part in giving the riders something more to contend with. Sam Lowes matched his qualifying, finishing the race on top with Remy Gardner in 2nd and Fabio Di Giannantonio in 3rd.
The premier class was nothing short of spectacular!
Ducati’s amazing start saw all 4 riders hold 1-2-3-4 after the first lap, major concerns arose when traction became a factor for the Ducati’s.
An amazing performance from Monster Yamaha rider, Maverick Viñales, saw him take the top spot away from Zarco and Bagnaia well into the race!
An error from 2020 Champion, Joan Mir, on the last lap opened the door for the powerful Ducati’s to take 2nd and 3rd away from the champ.
A not so memorable start from newly signed Petronas rider, Valentino Rossi, saw the Italian drop from his 4th qualifying spot to end the race in 12th.
South Africa’s Brad Binder finished 14th behind teammate Miguel Oliveira.

With Max Verstappen starting from pole for the 4th time in his career, all eyes were on him to secure the first win of the 2021 season!
After the first round of pitstops, 7-time champion Lewis Hamilton, had taken control of the race leaving it all on the table for Verstappen to catch up. 10 laps are all it took for Verstappen to catch the champion, enough to attempt a pass that eventually ended in a penalty for the Dutchman and him having to give the spot back on lap 53.
Hamilton was able to hold the lead and go on to win his 96th F1 race by a measly second!
Hamilton also passed Michael Schumacher’s record of 5,111 for the most laps led in F1 history.
Behind them, teammate, Bottas, finished in 3rd with Lando Norris close behind.
