The 2017 Supadrift season has gone off with a bang!!!
Our very own Paolo Gouveia is doing extremely well with his new and improved Nisaan 200SX.
6 Events were planned for the year!
Races still to come include:
28 – 29 July 2017 – Aldo Scribante Raceway, Port Elizabeth
26 – 27 August – Dezzi Raceway, Port Shepston
29 – 30 September – RedStar Raceway, Mpumalanga
A positive about competing in a national series is traveling and witnessing our beautiful country.
With any sport it does it has its challenges. When reflecting on this year, three particularly challenging events come to mind. Mechanical gremlins are a drivers nightmare. They always rear their heads at the most inopportune moments. SD01 Delmas, the car was set up with the wrong ratio. Towards the end of the year, my faithful RB25 gearbox started giving issues and eventually gave up, shearing her third gear in Top 16 at SD07 Mahikeng, rendering me unable to continue. It was a real race against time to source, modify and fit a new 350Z gearbox- a box I am not familiar with. In SD 08, the finals, coming in with a new gearbox, she could not get the traction down. It took changing tyre size and experimenting with pressure on race day to try find a solution, unfortunately we never fully figured out the problem.
